What and where is Long Lake?

Long Lake is a 400 acre, 60’ deep, spring fed, all-sport lake east of Mullet Lake and West of Black Lake, approximately 8 miles south of the city of Cheboygan.

Are there home building requirements?

Yes, such as minimum 1400 square feet on first floor, natural colors, setbacks, and driveway construction.  Trailers, mobile homes, and other modular structures are not permitted.  A complete set of requirements can be found here.

Are the lots ready for building?

Yes, all have passed well and septic tests and have gas and electric service at the road

Are there homes built at Michakewa Shores?

There are currently six homes completed and one under construction with three-year round residents.

Are there association dues?

Yes, currently the annual dues are $400.

Is Long Lake on the Inland Waterway?

No, there is one public boat launch.  The lake is typically not very busy except when Camp Walden (adjoining property) is in session – 7 weeks July-August.

Are there lots for sale?

There are usually a few lots for sale listed through local realtors.  Information on homes for sale by owner can be found by visiting the property.

Is camping allowed?

Camping will no longer be allowed once the seventh house is completed. This house is currently under construction so there will be no more camping after 2022.

How many lots are in the development?

There are 29 lots of approximately 1 acre with at least 100 feet of frontage on Long Lake

How is the association governed?

An elected operating board strive to maintain the development to preserve the property value of the owners.  View the bylaws governing the development here.

What services are included in the Association?

Snow plowing of the access road, outlawn and common area mowing, maintenance of the common grounds.

What are the property taxes? 

23 mils Homestead, 41 mils Non-Homestead.
